Brass Idols
A brass idol is often the heart of a home's pooja room, chosen with care and kept for generations. Brass has long been favoured for idols because it holds fine detail, takes on a warm glow when polished and stands up well to daily worship and abhishekam. Many families also give brass idols as gifts for weddings, housewarmings and festivals, as a gesture of blessing for the home.

Choosing brass idols
Our brass idols range from small 1 inch pieces for compact mandirs and gifting up to 6 inch idols for the main altar, each in an antique or plain finish. To know which deities are available at present, call or WhatsApp +91 90807 22578, or visit our Sullurupeta showroom to see the detailing up close. Prices depend on size, finish and the current metal rate, and are shared on request.
Match idols kept together
If several deities will sit together on one shelf, choose them in similar sizes and the same finish so the altar looks balanced. Note the heights of the idols you already have, so you can compare sizes in the showroom.
Antique or plain finish
A plain finish has the bright golden shine of polished brass and can be cleaned with tamarind or lemon. An antique finish has a darker, aged look that brings out fine detail, and it should only be dusted, never scrubbed.
Look closely at the casting
Check that the base sits flat and steady, the features and ornaments are crisp, and there are no cracks or rough patches. Hold the idol too: well-cast brass usually feels solid and balanced in the hand.
Questions
Brass Idols: your questions
How do I clean brass idols?
Clean plain brass idols with tamarind pulp or a paste of lemon and salt, using a soft brush for the detailing, then rinse and dry them fully. Antique-finish idols should only be wiped with a soft, dry cloth, as acidic cleaners strip the finish. After abhishekam, dry every idol thoroughly to avoid water spots.
What size brass idol is right for a home pooja room?
For most home mandirs, an idol of 2 to 6 inches sits comfortably. Choose by the space rather than a fixed rule: measure the shelf height and depth, leave room for lamps and offerings, and keep the main idol in proportion to the mandir. Many families also follow the custom of keeping smaller idols at home.
