The steel beruva, also spelt beeruva or bheeruva, has been the mainstay of home storage in Andhra and Tamil households for decades, holding everyday clothes, silk sarees, important papers and family keepsakes. Steel stands up well to daily use, and a beruva remains a familiar part of the furniture given at weddings and bought for a new home.
Two sizes are stocked, 5.6 ft and 6.6 ft. The 5.6 ft beruva suits rooms with lower ceilings or lighter storage needs, while 6.6 ft offers more space for a family.
